In the knowledge that there wouldn’t be any sponsorship money this year the club were on the lookout for a new pub for next season, when a phone call from none other than Harry Potter turned the clubs future on its head. The Smithfield is under new management and the manager in to run the place is one-time Smithfield midfielder Chris ‘Harry Potter’, who waved his magic sausage wand on Sunday and provided the lads with the best spread in a long time. There was the usual chips and bread & butter, but new on the menu were sausages and curly fries.
In talks with the Smithfield ownership, Harry promises to do his best to secure the club some much-needed sponsorship money, arrange for some quiz nights again, and even put his feelers out for a race night next year.
Our hats off to Wayne Maxted, philanthropic Smithfield owner, for allowing all of this to happen.

After much hard work and many hours the shoutbox is finally integrated into both the blog and the forum. To post you need to be logged in, and the same data is displayed wherever you are on the site.
I know you guys love it, so please make good use of it when we start playing some games and the site gets a bit more traffic (it’s like a ghost town at the moment).
I made a €10 donation to Pierre, the author of the shoutbox, because as well as the shoutbox being a cool and useful addition to the site anyway, he helped my fix a couple of issues that I was having that stopped me integrating the shoutbox into the forum. I hope the club funds can cover it!

Well I have managed to get a plugin working for the site that allows synchronisation between the forum and the blog. This means when we post the Player Ratings on the blog a thread will be created in the forum and any comments made will be shared between the two.
I know you guys might find that a little geeky but this has taken me an age to get working and I feared I would not be able to surmount the issues I’ve been having getting the bloody things to communicate and kudos must go to this guy for putting me on the right track to enlightenment!
Even more kudos has to go to this forum for the technical solution to my ‘loopback connection’ problem!!!!!

After a comfortable 5-3 win against Duke of York in the first round of the Cup, the team we will face next is Portobello Royal Oak on Sunday 18th October.
They beat Bar NV 4-3 away from home. If my sources are correct Portobello play in the Wolverhampton & District Sunday Football League and after 2 matches they are rooted to the bottom of Division 2 with two away losses of 1-0 and 6-2.

For the benefit of people who do not have the luxury of broadband Internet at home, the club has invested in a mobile version of the website – both blog and forum.
Now you can keep up to date with the latest Player Ratings and news on the move. The site will be optimised for the smaller screen of a mobile phone.
Now you can get the Smithfield FC on your mobile!

The Smithfield have drawn Duke of York in the TB Williamson Cup. We’ll be playing away on 20th September 2009. Let’s hope we can turn around that 4-2 devastating loss last season!
