I am looking for suggestions for the worst excuse you have heard at the Smithfield that a player did not turn up for training or a game.
I'll give my top 3 from any football:
In at 3: Liam Laurence (Stoke City FC) - Missed not just one game but half a season with this old beauty:
I fell over my dog!!
In at 2: Steven Rutter (Buttlane Whitestar) - Missed a Sunday game after being spotted up town leathered at 3am:
I was in Jail!!
Finally the number 1 spot of all time: Ian Stanway (The Smithfield Firestarters) - Missed Thurday 2nd Aprils Training session with this horrific comment:
My legs are hurting from tiling.
Please add more suggestions!

The usual verbal diarrhea from the Fordster. Re-read the text mate, I was doing the tiling and I still have a thigh strain, which I picked up on Sunday. I don't have a thigh strain because I was tiling .
And we trust you to educate our children. Tsch.
Ah well, any excuse for you to up your PPD I suppose }:-)

I can't believe Ian missed training because he hurt his legs tiling Fordy.
You must be mistaken............a player getting injured tiling, you'll be asking me to believe players miss training to get engaged next. It just wouldn't happen.Posted 1 year ago # -
HA HA!
Well done Gaffer but you have got it wrong...

It was an important top of the league class I missed so .... HA!Posted 1 year ago # -
Sorry Fordy I should have known you'd never miss training. What a dedicated player you are. Pity more of the team don't follow your example.Posted 1 year ago #
